Job Description

Job Summary:

We have partnered with a private equity sponsor and the current CEO, who is nearing retirement, to identify the Company’s next CEO and transition his leadership of the business. The Company is a field-based blue-collar service business in Northern California with an excellent reputation, stable longstanding management and recurring revenue from existing contracts. There is a significant opportunity to grow the business through new customer acquisition, geographic expansion and acquisitions. Ownership is eager to capitalize on the Company’s strong reputation and service capabilities to grow the business meaningfully over the next decade.

As CEO, you will play a critical role driving revenue growth and leading the operations of the business. You must be a commercially driven executive with operations leadership and have a track record of growing revenues in blue-collar services businesses, ideally at a PE backed organization. You must have the soft and hard skills to successfully scale a business in a new organization you have not previously been managing.

This is not a remote position. Total compensation will be in the $300K range + equity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Successfully transition the roles and responsibilities and leadership mantle from a longstanding CEO and founder that honors and builds upon his legacy
  • Develop and execute the overall growth strategy to expand market share in its current geography, new geographies and within new verticals.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization.
  • Set Company revenue and profit goals and lead the organization to execute on those goals.
  • Manage and motivate a capable set of functional leaders to achieve revenue and profitability growth objectives.
  • Utilize available resources and financial statements to determine progress in achieving objectives; revise objectives and plans in accordance with current and/or changing conditions.
  • Identify and improve operational deficiencies; continue to professionalize the business as it scales.
  • Communicate with the Board on an ongoing basis and present to Board on a quarterly basis.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience with increasing responsibilities with 5+ years of executive management experience.
  • Experience leading a $20M - 100M blue-collar field service B2B business. Examples include janitorial, roofing, HVAC, lawn care, electrical, plumbing, etc.
  • Track record of robust sales growth and expanding profitability along with improving operational performance within a field-based service business.
  • Strong preference for a proven, general athlete with exceptional drive, passion, and history of results.
  • Experience establishing and implementing best practices and modernizing manual processes.
  • A knowledge of tech enabling legacy business models away from paper-based and on-premise processes and workflows.
  • Superior business acumen and P&L management experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, hire, coach, motivate, retain and lead exceptional talent.
  • Prior experience successfully leading and growing a private equity backed business highly desired.
  • Growth oriented with the ability to set and exceed exceptional revenue and profit targets.
  • Strong analytic, problem solving, and negotiating skills.
  • Energetic, positive, driven, and proactive.
  • Strategic entrepreneurial mindset with a roll up your sleeves mentality.
  • Demonstrable success / capability transitioning leadership of a business and taking it from modest and higher growth. An ability to deliver growth and expansion while maintaining continuity
  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA would be a plus.
