Patient Access Representative

A well-established healthcare organization is seeking a Patient Access Representative to join its growing team. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a positive experience through professional communication, accurate registration, and efficient coordination of services. The ideal candidate has strong administrative skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients in person and over the phone with professionalism and empathy.
• Accurately register and update patient demographic, insurance, and billing information in the system.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations or referrals.
• Collect and post patient payments, copays, and account balances as needed.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments in coordination with clinical staff.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies regarding confidentiality and data security.
• Support front desk operations, including managing patient flow and addressing inquiries in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with billing, clinical, and administrative teams to resolve patient or insurance issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• 1+ year of experience in a healthcare, medical office, or hospital registration setting preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology a plus.
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a calm, professional demeanor in stressful situations.
