POSITION SUMMARY
The Research Associate (RA) I or II, Pharmacology/Toxicology (In Vivo Core) conducts in vivo support to research and development programs. The RA should possess a background in science, lab work, or previous experience as a veterinary technician. The position will be based in Novato, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Performs in vivo and ex vivo study activities in rodent models to support the advancement of potential drug candidates targeting rare and ultra-rare diseases.
§ Assists with in-house breeding, weaning, genotyping, and general oversight of animal colonies.
§ Keeps meticulous records of experiments and results, based on Study Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions.
§ Formulates stock chemical reagents, relevant control and test articles, prepares specimen labelling, and conducts other research lab duties, as needed.
§ Ensures compliance with guidelines, such as AUP and IACUC.
REQUIREMENTS
§ Bachelor of Science in a Biology-related field or Registered Veterinary Technician required with relevant experience preferred. Experience may be substituted for education.
§ Rodent/animal handling and in vivo research experience preferred.
§ Experience with data collection software is beneficial.
§ High level of enthusiasm and ability to work independently, or as a team.
§ Occasional weekend, overtime, and holiday work is required; requires flexible work schedule to accommodate program priorities as needed.
§ Health Surveillance exam and on-line IACUC testing required, prior to initiating work.
