Course Description
BLS for Healthcare Providers covers international guidelines and the latest recommendations on CPR and Choking for all ages, ventilation with barrier devices, and the AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
This course is a prerequisite for advanced courses in resuscitation, including ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and PALS (Paediatric Advanced Life Support).
Attendees will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in CPR and AED use, and obtain a score of at least 84 % in the final written exam, before receiving an American Heart Association BLS ecard certificate of competency in CPR, Choking and AED, which is valid for 2 years.
Course Structure
This course is video based and highly interactive – participants practice while watching and there is more than sufficient opportunity to practice all the skills on the various mannequins.

This American Heart Association Course is primarily intended for:
Any Healthcare Provider or medical professional, both in hospital and out of hospital settings, who are required to learn or stay current with their CPR, Choking, BVM and AED training, and acquire the necessary 10 CPD points as required by the HPCSA.
