Legal Requirements as per the Department of Labour:

As per the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993), when there are between 1 and 50 employees in a workplace, there must be at least 1 first aider readily available during all working hours. There must also be a properly stocked first aid box (Regulation 7 First Aid Kit) that is easily accessible

Course Description

This course is designed to provide training in emergency life-saving skills for the workplace, and for the public including general employees, designated first aiders and safety representatives, tour guides and teachers.

This course will enable them to provide first aid within the workplace, according to the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act 85 of 1993.

The course provides hands – on practice in the skills of CPR, as well as all the theory and practical training skills for a range of trauma and medical emergencies (listed below).

Course Content

Certificate

On successful completion (including a written examination as well as a practical skills assessment, attendees will receive an accredited Level 1 First Aid Certificate, which is valid for 3 years.

If the candidate’s Level 1 certificate is still valid and not yet expired, they may attend a 1 day Refresher Course.
