Course Description
This course is designed for individuals who may be required to respond to fires in the workplace. You’ll learn essential firefighting skills and be prepared to deal with fire safety issues.
Course Structure:
Once the theory module is complete, each participant will have an opportunity to put their theory into practice by extinguishing a real fire using a fire extinguisher, building confidence in your ability to respond effectively in an emergency.
Course Content
- An understanding of procedures for dealing with fires in the workplace is demonstrated
- Identify the type of fire, its context and select the appropriate firefighting procedure
- Fires are contained and / or extinguished
- The fire and / or the site are handed over to the appropriate personnel
- Reports on status of fire and equipment are completed
- Identify, select and check appropriate firefighting and safety equipment
Certificate
On successful completion, attendees will receive an accredited certificate in Firefighting Techniques.

Accredited with TETA (NQF Level 1, Unit Standard 252250)
